Forsyth County Police Accountability and Reallocation Coalition

FCPARC is a collective of grassroots organizations locally in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, as well as statewide organizations, including Triad Abolition Project; Drum Majors Alliance; Forsyth County Community Bail Fund; NC Statewide Police Accountability Network (NCSPAN); Birds, Bees, & Babies; WS Democratic Socialists of America; and Fayetteville PACT. The coalition has the following demands:

  • Reallocate a portion of the $78 million WSPD police budget to community programs such as SOAR and YouthBuild

  • Create forgivable loans for Black businesses

  • Increase city-wide minimum wage

  • End cash bail in Forsyth County

  • Create a mental health crisis intervention mobile unit

  • Create an independent civilian police oversight authority for WSPD and FCSO

  • Demilitarize WSPD and FCSO

On December 21st, members of Hate Out of Winston and Triad Abolition Project met with Mayor Pro Tem D.D. Adams to present 5 demands, on behalf of FCPARC. Those demands are:

1) Reallocate money from WSPD budget to community services including SOAR, Youth Build, forgivable loans to Black businesses, public transportation, and increasing city minimum wage

2) Civilian Police Oversight Authority for WSPD and FCSO

3) End cash bail in Forsyth County

4) Demilitarize WSPD and FCSO

5) Create mental health crisis invention mobile unit
